Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup Greek yogurt (plain, unsweetened)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting or toppings of your choice (e.g., dark chocolate, nuts, etc.)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan with a little oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon until evenly mixed.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixes: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine!

Fill the Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe the batter into the greased donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional Toppings: Once cooled, you can dust the donuts with powdered sugar or dip them in melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with nuts or coconut for an extra treat!
