Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole grain)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, avocado, lettuce, and mayonnaise

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

Mix the ingredients thoroughly using your hands or a wooden spoon until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties (about 4-6 patties depending on the size you prefer).

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil to prevent sticking.

Cook the burger patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the burgers are golden brown. Avoid pressing down on the patties to keep them juicy.

In the last minute of cooking, place the burger buns cut-side down on the grill or skillet to toast lightly.

Assemble the burgers by placing each chicken patty on the bottom bun followed by your choice of toppings and the top bun.

Serve immediately with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
