Ingredients

2 cups ripe tomatoes, diced

1 cup onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Salt and pepper to taste

1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

Olive oil, for brushing

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, thyme, salt, and pepper.

Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and has a jam-like consistency. Remove from heat and let cool.

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush each slice with olive oil.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Once the bruschetta is ready, spoon a generous amount of the tomato jam onto each toasted baguette slice.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves for an aromatic touch.
