Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

For the Cookie Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup (175g) chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Prepare the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until combined.

        - Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and whisk until smooth.

          - Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, then mix until just combined. Do not overmix!

            - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

              Prepare the Cookie Layer:

                - In another bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

                  - Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.

                    - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

                      Layer and Bake:

                        - Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough over the brownie layer, spreading gently to cover as much of the brownie layer as possible. Don't worry about perfection; it's okay if some brownie shows through.

                          - Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.

                            Cool and Serve:

                              - Allow the browkies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes. For cleaner cuts, you can refrigerate them for an additional 30 minutes.

                                - Cut into squares and serve, or store them in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Enjoy your rich and indulgent fudgy chewy browkies!
