Ingredients

For the Fruit Filling:

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

2 cups fresh peaches, pitted and sliced

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Crisp Topping:

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as almonds or walnuts)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

      Prepare the Fruit Filling:

In a large bowl, combine the halved strawberries and sliced peaches. Sprinkle with the granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat the fruit evenly. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking dish.

          Make the Crisp Topping:

In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly. If using nuts, fold them into the mixture.

              Combine and Bake:

Evenly sprinkle the crisp topping over the fruit filling in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.

                  Cool and Serve:

Allow the crisp to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. This dish is delightful on its own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
