Ingredients

8 slices of white or whole wheat bread

1 cup of fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/2 cup Nutella (or other chocolate hazelnut spread)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)

Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)

Maple syrup (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Trim the crusts off the bread slices. Using a rolling pin, flatten each slice until thin, making it easier to roll.

Spread the Fillings: Evenly spread about 1 tablespoon of Nutella on one side of each slice of bread. Add a few slices of strawberries on top of the Nutella.

Roll It Up: Carefully roll each slice of bread tightly, starting from the side with the Nutella and strawberries. Secure the roll with your fingers.

Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

Coat the Rolls: Dip each rolled-up bread piece in the egg mixture, ensuring that it’s coated evenly on all sides.

Cook the Rolls: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, add a few roll-ups to the skillet (don’t overcrowd). Cook until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Add more butter as needed for the next batches.

Coat in Sugar: Once cooked, immediately roll the warm French toast roll-ups in a mixture of the granulated sugar and cinnamon until fully coated.

Serve: Arrange the roll-ups on a plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm with maple syrup on the side.
