4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (for filling)

1/4 cup melted butter (for filling)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Optional: Edible glitter or colored sugar for decoration

Instructions
 

In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

      Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 8-10 minutes on a floured surface until the dough is smooth and elastic.

        Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into four equal pieces.

            Roll each piece into a circle about 10 inches in diameter. Brush melted butter over the first layer, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, and top with the second layer. Repeat this process for the remaining layers.

              Once you’ve stacked all four layers, place a glass or small bowl in the center of the stack to hold it in place.

                Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut from the edge of the circle to the glass, creating 16 equal slices. Remove the glass.

                  Take two adjacent strips of dough and twist them away from each other two times. Pinch the ends to secure. Repeat with remaining strips.

                    Cover the twisted star with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.

                      Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the top of the star bread with beaten egg for a shiny finish.

                        Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

                          Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Optionally, sprinkle with edible glitter or colored sugar for a festive touch. Serve warm!
