Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Start and end with the flour mixture, ensuring everything is combined without over-mixing.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing out the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar or frost with your favorite icing, if desired.
