Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced into 1-inch rounds

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Optional: chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans) for garnish

Optional: a scoop of vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, swirling it around the pan until it’s completely melted and bubbly.

Add Bananas: Carefully add the banana slices to the skillet in a single layer. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan, you may need to do this in batches.

Sauté the Bananas: Cook the bananas for about 2-3 minutes on one side without stirring until they turn golden brown. Flip each slice gently and cook for another 2 minutes on the other side.

Add Sugar and Spices: Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the bananas, then add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently toss the bananas to coat them in the mixture.

Cook Until Caramelized: Continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has melted and forms a syrupy glaze around the bananas.

Serve: Remove from heat and let cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts for added crunch and serve warm over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy! These delicious caramelized bananas can be enjoyed as a dessert or a sweet breakfast treat.
