Ingredients

1 ½ cups whole milk

½ cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon salt

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

Optional: whipped cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling. Remove from heat.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Gradually whisk the warm milk into the egg mixture, ensuring it combines smoothly and doesn’t cook the eggs.

Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.

Sprinkle a light dusting of nutmeg on top for extra flavor.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.

Allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Slice and serve chilled or at room temperature, optionally topped with whipped cream.
