Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup milk (or plant-based milk)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)

Optional: herbs (like rosemary or thyme) for flavor

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk together until well blended.

In a separate bowl, mix the milk and vegetable oil (or melted butter). If using herbs, add them to this mixture.

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough starts to form. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into two equal pieces and shape them into round or flat loaves, about 1-inch thick.

Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Lightly grease it with oil or butter.

Place one loaf in the skillet and cover it with a lid. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown.

Carefully flip the loaf over and cook for another 8-10 minutes, covered, until golden and fully cooked through.

                  Repeat with the second loaf.

Let the bread cool slightly on a wire rack or a plate before slicing. Enjoy warm!
