Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

4 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spiciness)

1 cup green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Optional: pickled cucumbers or kimchi as a side

Instructions

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Make the Sauce: While the beef cooks, in a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

Combine Beef and Sauce: Once the beef is cooked, pour the sauce over the beef in the skillet. Stir well to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Add Vegetables: Stir in the chopped green onions and shredded carrots. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the carrots are tender but still crisp.

Prepare to Serve: In a serving bowl or plate, place a generous scoop of cooked rice. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.

Garnish and Enjoy: Add additional chopped green onions and serve with pickled cucumbers or kimchi on the side for an authentic touch.
