Ingredients

For the Hash Brown Crust:

4 cups shredded frozen hash browns (thawed)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons melted butter

For the Quiche Filling:

6 large eggs

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup cooked bacon, chopped

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup chopped green onions

Salt and black pepper to taste

Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the Hash Brown Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, mozzarella cheese, 2 eggs, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.

Form the Crust: Press the hash brown mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish, forming an even layer on the bottom and up the sides. Use your fingers or a flat measuring cup to pack it tightly.

Pre-bake the Crust: Place the crust in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Make the Filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the remaining 6 eggs, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using) until well combined. Stir in the chopped bacon, Gruyère cheese, and green onions.

Assemble the Quiche: Pour the egg mixture into the pre-baked hash brown crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake the Quiche: Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake the quiche for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is slightly golden.

Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
