Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

4 oz sliced ham (preferably a honey-glazed variety)

4 oz shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 oz cream cheese (softened)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon dried thyme (or fresh, if preferred)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the puff pastry to about ¼ inch thick. Cut the pastry into 4 equal squares or rectangles.

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper until well blended. This will be a flavorful base for your filling.

        Assemble the Pastries:

          - On each pastry piece, spread a layer of the cream cheese mixture in the center.

            - Place a slice of ham on top of the cream cheese, followed by a generous sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.

Fold & Seal: Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle (depending on your shape). Pinch the edges to seal tightly and prevent leaking during baking.

Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg. This will give the pastry a beautiful golden color as it bakes.

Add Garnish: If desired, sprinkle some sesame seeds on top before placing them in the oven.

Bake: Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Cool & Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
