8 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (or vegan alternative)

4 slices of crusty artisan bread (like sourdough or ciabatta)

Fresh parsley, finely chopped, for garnish

Balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions
 

Sauté the Mushrooms: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Once hot, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are browned and soft.

    Add Garlic and Seasoning: Push the mushrooms to one side of the skillet, add the minced garlic to the other side, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Combine everything and stir in the thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional minute.

      Toast the Bread: While the mushroom mixture is cooking, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the slices of bread on a baking sheet and drizzle with a little olive oil. Bake for about 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted.

        Assemble the Toast: Remove the toasted bread from the oven, and evenly distribute the garlic mushroom mixture over each slice. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

          Finish Baking: Place the assembled toasts back in the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
