Ingredients

8 oz (about 225g) spaghetti or your favorite pasta

2 cups broccoli florets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

4 cups vegetable or chicken broth

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Zest of 1 lemon

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

Add the pasta, broccoli florets, and vegetable or chicken broth to the pot. If you'd like a little heat, sprinkle in the red pepper flakes.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and most of the liquid has absorbed, about 8-10 minutes.

Once the pasta is cooked, remove the pot from heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, lemon zest, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Serve the pasta hot, garnished with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your delicious, creamy garlic butter broccoli pasta!
