Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

8 oz cream cheese (softened)

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup sour cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1/4 cup fruit preserves (optional, such as raspberry or apricot)

1 tbsp all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth it out slightly and increase its size.

Cut the pastry into squares, about 4x4 inches.

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, sour cream, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until well combined and creamy.

Spoon a generous dollop of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square.

If using, add a small spoonful of fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese mixture for added flavor.

Fold the corners of each pastry square toward the center to create a pocket, pinching the edges to seal.

Place the prepared Danish on the lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
