Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Dry into Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips (and sprinkles if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Scoop the Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop heaping balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are soft. They might appear slightly underbaked, but they will firm up as they cool.

Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
