Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cocoa powder

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup buttermilk, room temperature

2 large eggs

2 tbsp red food coloring

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp white vinegar

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)

12 oz white chocolate, for coating

Sprinkles or edible glitter, for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch cake pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar until well combined.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined and smooth.

Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make Cake Crumbs: Once the cake is cool, crumble it into a large mixing bowl using your hands or a fork, until it resembles fine crumbs.

Add Cream Cheese: In a separate bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the cocoa powder until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the crumbled cake and mix until well combined. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.

Form Cake Balls: Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the balls on a lined baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining mixture. You should have about 24-30 balls.

Chill the Balls: Refrigerate the cake balls for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm.

Melt the White Chocolate: While the cake balls are chilling, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until smooth.

Coat the Cake Balls: Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted white chocolate using a fork. Gently tap to remove excess chocolate before placing them back on the lined baking sheet.

Decorate: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle edible glitter or colorful sprinkles on top for a festive touch.

Set and Serve: Allow the chocolate coating to harden completely before serving. Enjoy your Crimson Delight Red Velvet Cake Balls at your next gathering!
