Ingredients

6 slices of thick-cut bread (like brioche or challah)

3 large eggs

1 cup milk (whole or almond)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons butter (for frying)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Powdered sugar (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Prepare the batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Coat the bread: Pour the flour onto a plate. Take each slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it is well-coated but not overly soaked. Next, lightly dredge the coated bread in the flour to create a slightly crispy texture.

Heat the pan: In a large skillet or frying pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once sizzling, add a few pieces of bread to the pan, leaving space in between them.

Cook the sticks: Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Add more butter as needed to prevent sticking.

Slice and serve: Once cooked, remove the French toast sticks from the pan and let them cool slightly. Cut each slice into strips.

Garnish and enjoy: Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping and a sprinkle of powdered sugar for a sweet touch.
