Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 packet taco seasoning

1/2 cup water

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

1 package of refrigerated pizza dough (or crescent rolls)

1/4 cup salsa

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Cooking spray or olive oil

Optional: sour cream for dipping

Instructions

Prep the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey). Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until softened.

Season It Up: Sprinkle in the taco seasoning and pour in the water. Stir well and simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture has thickened slightly.

Assemble the Sticks: Preheat your oven to the temperature indicated on the pizza dough package. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut it into rectangles (about 3x5 inches).

Fill and Fold: Place a spoonful of the taco filling onto the center of each rectangle. Top with shredded cheese and a small amount of salsa. Fold the dough over to create a stick shape, sealing the edges with your fingers. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra seal.

Bake: Place the filled sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray or brush the tops with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Allow the cheesy taco sticks to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve warm with sour cream or additional salsa for dipping.
