Ingredients

4 slices of bread (whole wheat or white)

1 cup boiled potatoes, mashed

1/2 cup peas (fresh or frozen)

1/4 cup grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

2 tablespoons finely chopped onions

2 green chilies, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

1/2 teaspoon garam masala

Salt to taste

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for coating)

Oil for frying

Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture:

    - In a mixing bowl, add the mashed potatoes, peas, grated cheese, chopped onions, green chilies, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.

      Bread Preparation:

        - Trim the crusts off the bread slices. You can use any excess crusts to make bread crumbs later. Lightly soak each slice of bread in water for a few seconds and then squeeze out the water gently, keeping it soft but not soggy.

          Forming the Balls:

            - Take a small portion of the potato mixture and form it into a ball (about the size of a golf ball). Wrap the soaked bread around the ball, carefully sealing the filling inside. Repeat this process with the remaining mixture and bread slices.

              Coating:

                - Roll each bread ball in breadcrumbs until they are evenly coated. This will give them a crispy exterior when fried.

                  Frying:

                    - Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the bread balls in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 4-5 minutes.

                      Drain Excess Oil:

                        - Use a slotted spoon to remove the bread balls from the oil and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

                          Serving:

                            - Serve the crispy bread balls hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. They pair wonderfully with a side of ketchup or green chutney for dipping.
