Ingredients

1 loaf of brioche bread, cubed (about 10-12 cups)

8 oz cream cheese, softened and cut into cubes

1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, thawed)

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Layer the Bread and Cream Cheese: Place half of the cubed brioche bread in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute the cream cheese cubes and blueberries over the bread. Top with the remaining brioche cubes to form an even layer.

Whisk the Custard Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine the Mixtures: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered bread and berries. Gently press down with a spatula to make sure all the bread is soaked in the custard.

Chill and Absorb: Cover the casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results. This step helps the bread absorb the custard.

Bake the Casserole: Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired, and serve warm with maple syrup.
