Banana Bread Brownies

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well combined.

      Add the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract into the banana mixture and mix until smooth.

        In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until evenly mixed.

          Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently just until combined. Be careful not to over-mix!

            Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips if using, creating an even distribution throughout the batter.

              Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

                Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet Batter).

                  Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment paper edges. Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
