Ingredients

6 slices of thick-cut bread (like brioche or challah)

3 large eggs

1 cup milk (or any milk alternative)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar (brown sugar for extra flavor, if desired)

A pinch of salt

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)

Cooking spray or melted butter, for greasing

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Bread: Cut each slice of bread into 3 to 4 sticks, depending on how thick you want them.

Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, sugar, and salt until fully combined.

Coat the Bread Sticks: Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds. Make sure to coat all sides. If using breadcrumbs, roll the soaked bread sticks in the breadcrumbs for an extra crunchy texture.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the coated French toast sticks onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each stick to ensure even baking.

Bake the Sticks: Spray the tops with cooking spray or brush lightly with melted butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Serve: Let them cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with maple syrup, fresh fruits, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
