Ingredients
  

For the dough:

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

½ cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

½ teaspoon salt

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the filling:

2 medium apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp preferred)

½ cup brown sugar, packed

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

For the glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk (about 110°F). Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, beat together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and salt. Gradually mix in the frothy yeast.

        - Slowly add the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

          - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

            Prepare the Filling:

              - In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nuts (if using). Set aside.

                Assemble the Rolls:

                  - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

                    - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

                      - Spread the softened butter over the dough and evenly sprinkle the apple mixture on top.

                        - Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice into 12 equal rolls.
